Check of joists in wooden floors   ACORD-Express: Check of joists in wooden floors
The aim is to check, according to design criteria (bending strength, localised shear and compression at support) and according to service criteria (deformations and vibrations), the joists of a wooden floor. The wood volume, the paint surface, the length and weight of the member is provided.
Overview of joists
In first instance you choose the number of supports; joists on two, three or four supports. Note that a joist can have one or two overhangs at its ends.

Then the definition of the joist completed by the following data:
  • Environmental parameters (moister content, …)
  • wood class
  • section dimensions (rectangular or doubled)
  • initial camber
  • support conditions of the joist (resting, with shoe or embedded in masonry, …)
Overview of loads
Dead loads on floor: you have two input modes. In the first mode, you choose in a predefined list the various components resting on the floor, then, the total load is automatically computed. You can select the type of partition, the flooring, insulation, suspended ceilings, etc. In the second mode you specify the desired total load

Service loads on floor: Using lists, you only need selecting the building category (dwelling, office, etc.) and the floor use (apartment, hall, balcony, etc.), the load is then automatically computed. Please note that you may always input a specific value.

Zoning of dead and service loads: it is possible that a floor has various components or various uses from one part to the other. To allow considering zoning situations, you can define up to three zones and attach to each of them different dead and service loads.

Nature of applied loads: It is possible to input loads either as surface loads or as point loads, or both combined. It is therefore possible to consider all construction methods (boards directly laid on joists, use of sleepers, etc.) and all floor uses.

Load combination: the various combinations and the combination factors are automatically determined without additional user data.
