ACORD-Express: Check of constant section elementary strength |
The aim is to check in current situation and in standard fire situation the strength of a beam portion with constant cross-section in a given geometrical and loading configuration.
In first instance, you choose the configuration to be considered:
- In normal situation, are available axial tension, axial compression, local or diagonal transverse compression, bending with tension or compression, shear, torsion, buckling or lateral torsion buckling stability.
- In standard fire situation, are available axial tension, axial compression, bending with tension or compression, buckling stability, and lateral torsion buckling stability.
|
|
 |
In any case, you must complete the input data with:
- Wood category
- Dimensions of the cross-section
- Loading
|
|
 |
In addition, in normal situation, for transverse compression, you have the choice between end supports or internal. Then, for the shear load, you can consider the case of shear next to a support with rebate.
Concerning the standard fire situation, you can specify the number of exposed faces (1 to 4), the flame direction, the number of protected faces (0 to 4), the position and properties of protections and the design time for fire resistance.

Overview on the design report |
The created design report has the following sections:
- Loading parameter definition
- Definition of parameters for buckling or lateral buckling
- Definition of the dimensions of the cross-section (area, moments of inertia, etc.)
- Definition of parameters and coefficients regarding the material and the environment (strength, partial coefficients, modification coefficients, etc.)
- Applied stresses and design criterion with corresponding equation.
|
Regarding the standard fire situation, the properties of the section provided are the properties of the reduced cross-section. Furthermore, the initial section, the positions of exposition et the protections are drawn at scale to allow complete check of data and results.
