ACORD-SE: properties of any types of sections
For "thin-walled" or "full" sections, ACORD-SE enables the following:

  • determining all geometrical properties of the section (area, bending and torsional inertia, inertial and torsional centers, primary axes);
  • exporting these properties in the " ACORD Bat " format;
  • visualizing the distributions in both normal and shearing stresses within the section due to the introduction of a wrenching effect.
Thin sections
Sections with thin sidewalls are defined by virtue of an integrated CAD-type tool run using the average lines of each sidewall and the associated thicknesses.

The corresponding property and stress distribution computations may be obtained for any open, single-cell or multi-cell section.

Solid sections
Full sections are defined by inputting both their outer and inner contour lines.

A specialized algorithm, based on an integral equation method, has been used herein to compute with precision the characteristics of the section in torsion (inertia and center of torsion).

"ACORD-SE" can also be used for any type of section, whether in the field of mechanics (e.g. rotors) or construction.
