Mechanical design and check against freezing-thaw of pavement structures.
ALIZE-LCPC, developed by LCPC, is a professional tool used for the mechanical design and the check against freezing-thaw of pavement structures. It implements the "rational method" of mechanical design, developed by LCPC and SETRA. |

The primary purpose of the rational method is to oversee the design operations of new road and highway pavements, for all categories of traffic (running the gamut from low-traffic pavements to high-traffic pavements). Within this application context, the design approach, the set of associated hypotheses and the tools to be implemented have been fully laid out. Moreover, the general rational design approach has been the focus of a variety of transpositions, aimed at its adaptation to other types of design: differing traffic loads (e.g. industrial carriers, airport loads), other design problem areas (e.g. reinforcement of damaged pavements). The ALIZE-LCPC software is also applicable to these specific uses, without its implementation conditions being necessarily, in this case, entirely contained within an official method. In any event, this software facilitates the practical running of numerical computations required for designing pavement structures. ALIZE-LCPC software includes two checking methods against freezing-thaw: a simplified method (1994 Guide) and a complete method (Fourier method). This second approach calls the GEL1D computation module that predicts the evolution of the freezing fringe in the road structure. This method produces more accurate results than the simplified method. 555 operating licenses currently active in France and throughout the world since October 2003 |
